Join us for SUMMER 2010

About our Summer Intensive...

All over the country young dancers look forward to the warm weather and light academic schedules that summer brings: Their muscles are supple and less susceptible to injury in the summer heat, and they are no longer encumbered by heavy homework loads and late night dance classes. Serious ballet students eagerly await this opportunity to improve their technique while enjoying new teachers and diverse dance curriculums. At Steps of Faith we know this is the optimum time to nurture our students’ passion for dancing and to praise our Lord with a rejuvenated spirit! We are very thankful for the success of our intensives in pasts summers and the tremendous growth our own as well as our guest dancers showed. We are looking forward to an even stronger summer of dancing this year, with our additional levels to accommodate our youngest dancers!

Beyond the intensity of daily technique classes, the Steps of Faith Summer Intensive also offers weekly times for Devotions and Worship and Praise dancing. Throughout the summer our students will continue to learn the Word and how to best use their talents to serve and celebrate our Lord. It is also a time to forge new friendships and grow both individually and as a unified group. Steps of Faith dancers have learned quickly to cherish these summer experiences!

YOUNGER SCHOOL INFORMATION

Dates: June 14-18, 2010 and July 20-22, 2010

For Younger School dancers, the "ABC" summer intensive is a two-week program meeting 3 days per week (MWF or TWTh). Dancers range from 6 through 8 years of age and have had previous exposure to dance class: This program emphasizes preparation for classical ballet training in our most serious younger students. Daily ballet classes will be supplemented with Stretch and Strengthening, Jazz, Tap, and Devotions. Students are encouraged to enroll in both weeks, but may sign up for individual week sessions. There is no audition required for the Younger School. Dancers will be placed in the appropriate level by faculty. Please contact Steps of Faith Dance Studio for exact class schedules, tuition information, and registration guidance.

Please note that students who participate in the "ABC" Summer Intensive will be eligible to dance in The Nativity Ballet in the upcoming Steps of Faith Dance Company season. In addition, older students may be invited to join the Young Apprentice training program for Fall 2009 based on their performance in summer classes. Faculty will decide new summer student placement into the Young Apprentice program (if any) on July 17th, 2009 and dancers will be notified by e-mail or phone call by Monday, July 20th. The Studio’s and the Company’s Fall session begins on August 10th.

UPPER SCHOOL INFORMATION

DATES: June 14th – July 9th, 2010 (Levels 2 and 3 will not meet the week of June 14-18)

For Upper School Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5, the summer intensive is a four-week program, meeting 3 to 5 days per week. Dancers in these levels range from 9 years old through college age and are admitted by audition only (current students may be placed without audition). All dancers must have previous formal ballet training to be considered for the Upper Levels. Although it is strongly encouraged to enroll in all four weeks to maximize progress, students may sign up for individual week sessions in order to accommodate family vacations or other obligations. Along with daily Ballet and Pre-pointe/Pointe classes, additional dance disciplines such as Jazz, Modern, Variations, Praise and Worship, and Drama are offered. Partnering will be taught to the highest level.  Please contact Steps of Faith Dance Studio for exact class schedules and tuition information.

An audition class is required for  student placement in the upper levels. Current company members will have a closed audition in the Spring, to be announced by February.  Students must be at least 9 years of age to audition and have studied ballet for a minimum of 2 years. The 2010 Summer Intensive audition class for students new to Steps of Faith will be held in early June. The fee for this class is $20.00 and will be applied to your summer tuition. Please reserve an audition spot by contacting our office at 770-606-0506.

Please note that current  and potential Steps of Faith Dance Company students are required to participate in the Summer Intensive if they wish to be considered for a 2010-2011 Company position.
